Battery charger type BC25, BC30, BC50, BC60
Faults
If the battery charger does not work, then it will usually indicate what the problem is:
ENGLISH
Fault/Indication
‘TEMPERATURE’ LED on.
‘AC INPUT LED off.
Charger does not work when batteries
are connected.
After switching on the battery charger it
will remain in ‘Float’ mode instead of
immediately initiate with charging. On the
‘Volt-bar’ the battery voltage is indicated.
Possible Cause
Long term overload or a too high ambient
temperature
No input voltage.
Battery terminals reversed polarity.
A very low charging current.
Solution
Allow the inverter to cool down.
- No voltage from dockside cable.
- Fuse in panel faulty; replace fuse
Connect PLUS (+) and MIN (-) terminals
correctly.
Select temporarely the charging charac-
teristic ‘permanent Boost’ of the battery
charger, switch 4 in position ‘OFF’, see
page 8. *)
*) In case of too deeply discharged batteries or batterries in poor condition initially there will be a very low charging current or no
charging current at all.
For the battery charger this looks likes 100% fully charged batteries and therfore it will remain in ‘Float’ mode.
By selecting temporarely the ‘permanent boost’ charging characteristic of the battery charger after some time, several minutes
to several hours, a charging current will start flowing.
Always prevent discharging of the battery too deeply; this may result in permanent damage of the battery! Put switch 4 back to
the ‘ON’ position after several charging-discharging cycles; the battery charger will now again operate according to the standard
charging characteristic. A too large water consumption will be prevented by this. If there is no charging current while in ‘perma-
nent boost’ mode for many hours the battery is irreparable damaged.
