HANDLING AND INSTALLING THE BELT HOIST
6.1
Instructions installing the hoist on its support beam
(see figure on page 19)
a) - Remove the hoist lock nut mark 4.
b) - Unscrew nuts mark 5 to about 10 mm from the end of the tie rod. Remove bearings
mark 6. Pull the side plates outwards.
c) - Place the flats mark 3 at the end of the tie rods; check that threads cover the entire
thickness of the flat.
d) - Fasten lifting slings 1 and 2 as shown on the figure.
e) - Lift the belt hoist using lifting slings 1 and 2. Check that the support beam passes
between the side plates of the crab.
f) - When the lower flange of the steel is below the bearing level of the rollers, push the
side plates inwards towards the support beam. Tighten the four nuts mark 5; tightening
torque = 20 to 25 mdaN. Replace the synchro shaft bearings mark 6.
g) - Relax slings, and remove hooks from flats mark 3.
h) - Remove flats mark 3. Replace the four lock nuts mark 4.
Keep the flats mark 3; they will be useful if you have to move your hoist another time.
6.2
Handling the hoist
The hoist is delivered with four handling flats mark 3. Fasten the slings attached to your
handling equipment into the four holes in these flats mark 3.
