3 . 2 P rinciple of operation
VEGABAR 53 is a pressure transmitter for measurement of
gauge pressure , absolute pressure or vacuum . M easured
products are gases , vapours and liquids up to 600 bar . W ith
fl ush version also viscous liquids .
T he process pressure acts via the stainless steel diaphragm to
the sensor element

. A resistance change is caused which is
converted into a respective output signal and outputted as
measured value .
P ower supply is via the P ro fi bus DP / PA segment coupler or
VEGALOG 571 EP cards . A two - wire cable acc . to P ro fi bus
speci fi cation serves as carrier of both power and digital data
signals for multiple sensors . T he instrument pro fi le of
VEGABAR 53 corresponds to pro fi le speci fi cation version 3 . 0 .
T he GSD ( instrument master fi les ) and bitmap fi les necessary
for planning your P ro fi bus - DP -( PA ) communication network
are available from the download section on the VEGA
homepage www . vega . com under " S ervices – D ownloads –
S oftware – P ro fi bus " . T here you can also fi nd the appropriate
certi fi cates . I n a PDM environment , an EDD ( E lectronic D evice
D escription ) is also required to enable the full range of sensor
functions ( also available as a download ). A CD with the

3 . 3 A djustment
VEGABAR 53 can be adjusted with three di ff erent adjustment
media :

the indicating and adjustment module PLICSCOM
l
with the suitable VEGA DTM in conjunction with an
adjustment software acc . to FDT / DTM standard , e . g .
PACT ware ™ and PC
l
the S imatic adjustment program PDM
T he entered parameters are generally saved in VEGABAR 53 ,
optionally also in PLICSCOM or in PACT ware ™ .

transmission liquid , for meas . ranges from 25 bar : strain gauge ( DMS )
sensor element on the rear of the stainless steel diaphragm ( dry ).
