The spare wheel is fitted with a smaller tyre
on a steel rim. If you use the spare wheel
the v ehicle's handling may be altered.
Obtain a replacem ent for the faulty tyre as
soon a s possib le, and have the wheel
balanced and fitted to the v ehicle.

Do not use the tem porary spare wheel
for a lengthy period.

Replace temporary spare wheel with
repaired wheel without delay.

Do not use tyre chains. If you need to use
tyre chains after suffering a flat rear tyre,
fit the tem pora ry spare w heel on the
front axle and transfer one of the front
wheels to the rear axle. Adjust tyre
inflation pressure.
Changing wheels
In order to reduce the chance of possible
injuries, m ake the following prepa ra tions
and note the procedure:

Park on a level, firm a nd non-slippery
surface.
z
Sw itch on the hazard warning lights and
apply the hand brake. For a utomatic
transm ission

, set the selector lever to
position
P
, or for m anua l transmission,
eng age first gear or reverse.
z
Correctly set up warning triangle.

z
Take the spare wheel from the lugg age
compa rtm ent.
z
Before raising the vehicle, set the front
wheels to the straight-ahead p osition.
z
Never change m ore than one w heel at
once.
z
Block the wheel diagonally opposite the
wheel to be chang ed b y placing wedge
blocks or equivalent in front and behind
the wheel.
z
Use the ja ck only to change wheels.
z
If the ground on which the vehicle is
standing is soft, a solid board (max. 1 cm
thick ) should be placed under the jack.
Using a thicker board could damage the
jack and the vehic le.
z
No people or a nima ls m ay be in the
vehicle when it is jack ed up.
z
Never cra wl und er a ja cked-up vehicle.
z
Do not start or run the engine while the
vehicle is on the jack.
