Device description 

This chapter will describe the device. The device is pointed out with features present in §2.4. 
Classifications of the device are listed in §2.7. 

2.1. 

INTENDED USE AND USERS 

The device is intended to be used for the cooling of X-ray and E-beam tubes in industrial applications.  
The device is intended to be used in stationary applications in a fixed position and industrial environment 
like:  

Non-destructive testing applications 

Laboratory and research environments 

Therapeutic x-ray equipment for radiotherapy treatments or sterilization packaging material by 
irradiation 

Industrial machine cooling 

The limitations of use are specified in §9.  
The intended user of the device is defined as the operator of an X-ray or E-beam system. The operator 
shall be qualified and/or trained to operate the X-ray or E-beam system. 

2.2. 

Description of the device 

The THERMICA WATER TO AIR COOLER is operated by the generator and consists of a minimum flow 
switch, level switch and a temperature controller which will generate a monitoring signal to the generator 
once the minimum system requirements are not met.  
In addition, the device can be configurated with an Air filter. 
 
The device provides 2 MOP: 

between the electronics and the outside of the housing  

between the electronics and the operator controls 

between motor and fan and other components and encasing 

 
The device is suitable for installation in stationary X-ray systems.
