Statutory regulations
and safety
instructions
In principle, the general accident
prevention regulations and current
works safety instructions are appli-
cable. The use of emergency exits
in buses is regulated with regard to
position, number and size in the
ECE regulation R36.
If necessary, additional national
regulations to be observed (e.g. §
35f of the Road Vehicle Registration
Regulations in Germany).

R36:
Escape hatches
Escape hatches shall be capable of
being easily opened or removed
from the inside and from the
outside.
Operation
Escape hatches shall be either
ejectable, hinged or made of readily
breakable safety glass.
Dimensions
The aperture area must be at least
4,000 cm
2
, while it shall be possible
to inscribe in this area a rectangle
measuring 500 x 700 mm.

Certification
The ventilation and emergency exit
hatch Bus Top Premium meets the
requirements of the ECE Regula-
tion R36 and is certified according
to the ECE Regulation R10 and
ECE Regulation R118.
