During cooking, fat and
grease may be deposited
on a heating element that is
not in use. At a later point in
time when a different oper-
ating mode is switched on,
the heating element heats
up and burns off the fat or
grease. It stops giving off
smoke when all the fat and
grease has burned off.

Clean the heating elements when they have
cooled down. Do not use strong detergent or
scouring pads, as these could damage the
heating elements.
