Appendix C – Additional Information
C.1 - Data Intervals and Storage
C.1.1 - Sampling Intervals
The data logs will acquire new values at regular intervals, according to which sampling rate is set. The
options are:
10, 20, or 30 seconds
1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 10, 15, or 30 minutes
1,2, 3 or 4 hours
C.1.2 - Storage and Capacity
Data on
EnCompass
868
devices is temporarily stored on the device until wireless transmission to the
Entranet
takes place. Transmission occurs every 15 minutes, or less often if the reporting interval is
changed from the default.
The limitations of the temporary storage on the
EnCompass
collector can affect higher frequency
collection in the following ways:
•
When more than 2 inputs are reporting, a sampling rate of 10 seconds is liable to cause a buffer
overload, resulting in lost data.
•
Likewise when more than 4 inputs are reporting, the same would be true of a sampling rate of 20
seconds.
•
For sampling intervals over (and including) one minute, this issue is avoided, however many inputs
are reporting.
The
Entranet
receives data from wireless nodes at 15 minute intervals, and data from Modbus registers
according to the set sampling rates. The device is able to store data until its buffer of 32 million values is
full, at which point new values will overwrite the oldest values. Here are some examples of how long this
might take:
