Crest Factor
The crest factor or peak factor indicates the ratio between peak value and true RMS of a
signal. This unit finds particular attention with true RMS measurement instruments (UNI-
TEST Clamp CHB 5). Although the measurement value is located within the selected mea-
surement range, the UNITEST Clamp CHB 5 could be amplified and supply faulty measu-
rement results, if the signal to be measured shows excessive peak values.
5.9b MIN/MAX/Peak Measurement
The MIN/MAX button can be used to find either the largest or the smallest value of a se-
ries of measurements. Pressing the MIN/MAX button activates first the MIN mode, so that
the smallest value is selected. Pressing it a second time changes to MAX mode, for the
largest value. Pressing the button a third time returns the instrument to normal operati-
on.
