3 Usage
3.2.3
Installing the sling horizontally
•
Fold the sling lengthwise by half a couple of
times. One half folded and one half loose.
•
Turn the user to the side, towards the caregiver.
•
Place the sling with the folded side against the
back of the user.
•
Position the sling so that the label with washing
instructions is on the outside (currently the
bottom).
•
Turn the user over the sling on the other side.
•
The rolled up part of the sling will be on the side
of the caregiver.
•
Unroll the rolled up part of the sling and pull it
further into the correct position.
•
Now turn the user back on his back so that it lies
on the rolled out sling..
•
Hoist one leg from the user and insert one leg slip
from the sling under the leg to the inside of the
leg.
•
Then apply the other leg slip in the same way.
•
If necessary, pull the sling straight so
that the user lies stable in the sling when
hoisting.
3.3
Hoisting with the OpeMax Lite
The self-balancing cradle can be placed slightly horizontally
beforehand if you have to start hoisting from a lying position
and vertically if you have to start hoisting from a seated
position.
•
Manoeuvre the hoist carefully
•
If necessary, extend the undercarriage with the
help of the leg adjustment in order to be able to
place the hoist close enough to, for example, a
chair.
•
Attention! Drive the last part quietly!
Attaching the sling to the spreader bar
•
Make sure that the user is facing the spreader bar.
•
Attach the two clips from the head side of the sling
to the attachment points on the head side of the
spreader bar.
•
Then attach the two clips from the leg side of the
sling to the attachment points of the leg side of the
spreader bar. Make sure that the straps of the
clips are straight; the strap must not be twisted.
When using a two point spreader bar, the leg
panties of the sling must be attached crosswise
with loops. Left slip on right hook and right slip on
left hook.
Check the position of the user's arms. With standard
slings, place the user's arms inside the sling, e.g. on the
user's lap.
In the case of toileting slings, the user's arms must
protrude through the strap outside the sling.
Take the hand control and stand as close to the user as
possible. Move the hoist up a little so that there is
tension on all the clips.
Check all the attachment points again. Inform the user
that hoisting is commencing.
