5.4 Gears and Shifting
Your A2B has a 7-speed rear derailleur controlled by the
twist gear shifter on the left side of the handlebar.
To shift gears, pedal
at a steady pace and
rotate the shift grip until
you find the gear most
comfortable for you
and the current conditions. To make pedalling easier (when
encountering a hill), rotate the grip toward you to down-
shift, this will also make you pedal faster to achieve any
given speed.
To ride faster (on a flat section or a downhill), rotate the
grip away from you to up-shift, allowing you to pedal more
slowly for a given speed, but with more effort required.
Never pedal backward while shifting gears. The chain
could derail and you could lose control, resulting in an
accident that could cause serious or fatal injury and/or
property damage. Always pedal forward at a steady pace
when shifting gears.
