The seed gate control should operate smoothly without
excessive force being applied to the control handle. If
the gate is hard to move, check for debris or foreign
objects caught in the seed gate holes. Check for a
buildup of dirt and debris between the seed hopper
bottom and the seed gate. Clean before adjusting. Do
not lubricate the gate, seed will stick to the lubrication
causing an unwanted buildup around the gate holes.
Use the following steps to adjust the seed gate and
seed gate cable.
Step 1.
Place seed gate handle in the “close” position.
Loosen the seed gate cable housing adjusting nuts
enough to allow cable to be lose.
Step 2.
The seed gate return spring applies the force to
draw the seed gate closed when the seed gate control
handle is in the “close” position. Check the seed gate
openings, they should be completely closed.
Step 3.
Set seed gate dial to zero (seed gate must still
be completely closed).
Step 4.
Adjust the seed gate dial bracket. The tip of the
seed gate dial must touch the seed gate stop. Tighten
adjustment. If the return spring bracket restricts the
seed gate stop from being adjusted at “zero”, adjust
the bracket to the right. Bracket can also be adjusted
to the right to add additional spring tension.
Step 5.
Reset the seed gate cable housing adjusting
nuts. Adjust cable enough to take out any slack in the
cable plus put a small amount of tension in the spring
to control any vibration at the seed gate handle .
Step 6.
Set the seed gate dial at “17” and check the
operation of the seed gate handle. Gate should fully
open and close.
