Headlight

3. Pinch-bolt (vertical setting)
4. Bracket fastener (horizontal setting)
Headlight Adjustment
Horizontal Adjustment
Switch the headlight dipped beam on.
Loosen the headlight mounting bracket
fastener.
Adjust the horizontal position of the headlight
and mounting bracket to give the required
beam setting.
Tighten the bracket fastener to
26 lbf ft
(35 Nm)
.
Re-check the headlight beam setting.
Switch the headlight off when the beam
setting is satisfactorily set.
Vertical Adjustment
Switch the headlight dipped beam on.
For America loosen the lower pinch-bolt: for
Speedmaster loosen the upper pinch-bolt.
Adjust the position of the headlight to give
the required beam setting.
Tighten the bracket pinch-bolt to
9 lbf ft
(12 Nm)
Re-check the headlight beam setting.
Switch the headlight off when the beam
setting is satisfactorily set.
Warning
Adjust road speed to suit the visibility and
weather conditions in which the motorcycle
is being operated.
Ensure that the beam is adjusted to
illuminate the road surface sufficiently far
ahead, but without blinding oncoming
traffic. An incorrectly adjusted headlight
may impair visibility causing loss of
motorcycle control and an accident.
Warning
Never attempt to adjust the headlight
beam when the motorcycle is in motion.
Any attempt to adjust the headlight beam
when the motorcycle is in motion may
result in loss of control and an accident.
