Maintenance and Adjustment
Oil Level Inspection
•
Start the engine and run at idle for
approximately five minutes.
•
Stop the engine, then wait for at
least three minutes to allow the oil to
settle.
•
Note the oil level visible in the sight
glass.
•
When correct, oil should be visible in
the sight-glass at a point mid-way
between the two horizontal lines
marked on the crankcase.
Note:
•
The actual level is indicated when
the motorcycle is level and
upright, not on the side stand.
•
If it is necessary to top-off the oil
level, remove the filler plug and add
oil, a little at a time, until the level
registered in the sight glass is
correct.
•
Once the correct level is reached,
install and fully tighten the filler plug.
Oil and Oil
Filter Change
1. Oil drain plug
The engine oil and filter must be replaced in
accordance with scheduled maintenance
requirements.
•
Warm up the engine thoroughly,
and then stop the engine.
•
Place an oil pan beneath the engine.
•
Remove the engine drain plug.
Warning
If the engine has recently been running,
the exhaust system will be hot. Before
working on or near the exhaust system,
allow sufficient time for the exhaust system
to cool as touching any part of a hot
exhaust system could cause burn injuries.
Warning
Prolonged or repeated contact with engine
oil can lead to skin dryness, irritation and
dermatitis. In addition, used engine oil
contains potentially harmful contaminants
which can cause cancer. Wear suitable
clothing and avoid skin contact.
