Glossary and Acronyms
ETSI
ETSI stands for ‘European Telecom Standards
Institute’, which is the standards making authority for
Europe. The ITU Q921 and Q931 recommendations
are commonly referred to as the ETSI protocol or
DSS1.

Far-end block
The number of errors detected in transmitted data
errors (FEBE)
blocks at the destination (remote) end.
Fixed Link
A type of ISDN Point-to-Point link which does not
use protocol transactions to establish a clear channel.
Flash
A momentary interruption in the supervisory signal of
a telephone call. A user can obtain this result by
pressing the hook key.
Flash memory
A type of EPROM that can be erased electrically,
holds the

software.

A way of identifying an ISDN tele-service

Hot key
A sequence of two or more keys that provides a
short-cut method of accessing a particular function.
