The fireplace includes 
two mounting plates 
used to brace the 
pieces of fiber board 
along the side of the 
fireplace.   Position 
the mounting plate so 
the tabs on the side 
of the fireplace insert 
into the slots on the 
mounting plates (see 
picture directly to the 
right).  Then secure 
the mounting plate to 
the framing (picture 
far right).  Repeat this 
process for the 
opposite side. 

     

 

 

Place the side fiber board in place and secure. 

 

The top strips are installed over the tile stop.  
These two pieces provide the 2” of non-
combustible material required above the tile stop 
(used only for flush drywall – see “Facing Example 
– Flush Drywall” on page 39).
