Metal Framing 

HINT: You may wish to install the metal framing after installing the vent and air inlet.  This will allow for 
easier access to the area above the fireplace. 

The fireplace includes two (2) steel channels (see  “a” and “b” below) and five (5) metal studs (see “c” 
below).  These non-combustible framing members are required in front of the fireplace to support the 
facing.  Secure the bottom channel (“a” – the thicker, 16 gauge channel) to the fireplace using sheet 
metal screws (maximum screw length is 1”).  Secure the top channel  (“b”) to the framing.  Then secure 
the metal studs to the channels (the metal channel has pre-drilled holes for securing the studs).
