Transmission purge
Beware!
On hydrostatic models, never engage or disengage
the freewheel lever while the engine is running. To
ensure proper operation and good performance,
it is recommended to purge the transmission
before operating the tractor for the first time.
This will eliminate any pockets of air trapped in
the transmission that may have developed during
transportation of the tractor.
Important:
If the transmission has to be removed for
maintenance or replacement, it must be purged
after reinstallation and before the tractor is started.
1. Park the tractor safely on level ground free of
objects, outdoors. Turn off the engine and trigger
the parking brake;
2. Disengage the transmission by setting the
freewheel control in the unlocked position (see
“
How to transport the tractor
” in this section of
the manual);
3. Sit in the seat and start the engine. With the engine
running, move the throttle control to neutral (N)
and slowly disengage the clutch/brake pedal;
Beware!
The traction wheels might move during step 4.
4. Move the drive control lever all the way forward
and hold it for 5 (five) seconds. Then fully move the
lever to the reverse and hold it for another 5 (five)
seconds. Repeat this procedure 3 (three) times;
5. Move the motion control lever to the neutral point
(N). Switch off the engine and apply the parking
brake;
6. Engage the transmission again by setting the
freewheel control in the engaged position (see
“
How to drive the tractor
”);
7. Sit back on the tractor and start the engine. With
the engine running, move the throttle control
to 1/2 (half) speed. With the neutral (N) motion
control lever, slowly disengage the clutch/brake
pedal;
8. On hydrostatic models, slowly move the drive
control lever forward; when the tractor moves for
about 1.5 m, slowly move the lever to the reverse
position. After the tractor has moved for about
1.5 m, move the motion control lever to the neutral
point (N). Repeat this procedure three (3) times
with the control lever. Your transmission will then
be purged and ready for normal operation.
Suggestions for lawn mowing
Warning!
To prevent accidents involving contact with blades
or thrown objects, keep persons, helpers, children
and animals at least 30 meters from the tractor
while it is in operation. Stop the tractor if anyone is
less than 30 meters from it.
Warning!
Plan your movement so that you do not direct the
mow lawn to streets, sidewalks, people or animals.
Also, do not direct the discharge of material against
walls and obstacles, as the debris can be turned
towards the operator.
