Running Self Test
Press and Hold the Power button and the Paper Feed button simultaneously
for approximately 6 seconds to generate a Printer Self Test. The Printer Self
Test includes a Print Head test, Firmware Revision Code and the Build Date.
Cleaning the Print Head
Once the unit is opened, the paper path is accessible for cleaning or clearing
paper. Use a soft brush to clean the paper dust from inside the printer. The
paper dust should also be removed from the sensor optics. If streaking on the
Print Head Test is evident, the thermal print head may need to be cleaned.
This can be with a cotton swab moistened with an alcohol solvent (ethanol,
methanol, IPA).
Firmware Update
1.
Newer Firmware may be available for your printer. You must have the
MP2DFUDownloader.exe program installed. This is available from Transact-
tech.com
2.
Locate the firmware file to download, for example PE8100_000_010.hex.
3.
In order to download the printer you will need to have power to the printer and
have the USB cable plugged into the printer and connected to the computer.
4.
Before running the MP2DFUDownloader program you will need to put the printer
into DFU mode. To enter DFU mode, press and hold the power and feed button
while the printer cover is open.
5.
The power and error LED’s will now blink back and forth continuously, this
indicates you have entered DFU mode. You can now release the buttons. (If
printer enter DFU mode, see Note 1 below.)
6.
Next run the firmware download program type in “MP2DFUDownloader –d
PE8100_000_010.hex”.
7.
Once the firmware download has completed there will be a message
“programming finished” and the power LED will be on solid.
Note1: In early versions of the printer, DFU mode is entered by holding the
power, feed and wireless button.
