A full body harness is the only equipment around
the body that may be used in a fall arrest system.

Definitions and pictograms
2.1.
Definitions
“Connector”
: Element connecting the components of
a fall arrest system. It is EN 362-compliant.
“PPE”
: Personal protective equipment against falls
from height.
“Full body harness”
: Harness securing a man’s body
for the purpose of stopping a fall. It consists of straps
and buckles. It has fall-arrest attachment points marked
A or A/2.

Point A can be used alone.

Point A/2 cannot be used alone; it must be
used in combination with another A/2 point. It
must comply with EN 361.
“Rescue strap”
: Device securing a man’s body,
designed for rescue operations, formed by straps,
accessories, buckles and other elements designed and
assembled to securely maintain a person’s body in an
appropriate position during a rescue operation.
“Fastening point”
: On the rescue straps, the fastening
points are loops made of webbing, designed to receive
a rescue PPE or a raising rescue system.
“
Supervisor
”: Individual or department responsible for
the management and safe use of the product described
in the manual.
“
Technician
”: Qualified individual responsible for the
maintenance operations described and permitted in the
manual, who is trained and familiar with the product.
“
Minimum/maximum operating load
”: Minimum or
maximum weight of the person to be evacuated.
“
Anchor point
”: Element which is sufficiently stable
and strong, mounted on a sufficiently strong fixed
structure to which personal protective equipment can
be attached.
“
Rescuer
”: Person trained and qualified to rescue a
person in distress at heights.
“
Fall-arrest system
”: Personal protective equipment
ensuring protection against falls from heights,
comprising a fall arrest harness and a connecting sub-
system designed to stop a fall.

DANGER:
When placed at the beginning of a

to the rescuer and person to be evacuated, particularly
fatal, serious or minor injuries, and damage to the
environment.

3.
Overview and description
3.1. Overview
Rescue straps are not Personal Protective Equipment
(PPE). They are used to move a person to be
evacuated in open air so that they are evacuated in the
best conditions The rescue strap are formed by straps,
buckles and fabric. They are designed to adapt to the
size of the person to be evacuated (S, M and XL sizes)
by 3 fastening configurations. See fig. 4.2.1 Installation.
The rescue straps can be connected to an evacuation
system as described in standard EN 341 or to a raising
rescue system as described in standard EN 1496.
IMPORTANT: The rescue strap is designed
for the rescue or evacuation of persons weighing
between 30 and 150 kg. It is compliant with the
requirements of standard EN 1498: 2006 class B.
