FRONT SUSPENSION AND STEERING

NOTICE: To hold threaded tube while loosening jam
nut, use a wrench on the center, flat section of tube.
NOTICE: The tie rod has different threads on each
end. The end with the groove in the threaded tube
has left hand threads while the end without the
groove has conventional right hand threads.

To adjust the wheel alignment, loosen the tie rod jam
nuts (1) and turn the tie rod (2) until the correct
alignment is achieved. Tighten jam nuts to 36 - 40 ft.
lbs. (49 - 54 Nm) torque.
5.
Test drive the vehicle and confirm the steering wheel
is correctly centered. If it is not centered, disconnect
the intermediate shaft from the steering shaft and
center the steering wheel (Ref. Figure 5).
6.
Reconnect intermediate the shaft and tighten the
bolt to 155 - 215 in. lbs. (180 - 250 kg cm) torque.
