Configuration
The definition of the I/O length, I/O data type etc. takes place automatically for
most bus masters. This information only has to be entered manually for a few
bus masters.
Configuration means that the length and type of process data must be specified and
how it is to be treated. The configuration program normally provides an input list for
this purpose, in which the user has to enter the corresponding identifiers.
As the measuring system supports several possible configurations, the identifier to be
entered is preset dependent on the required nominal configuration, so that only the I/O
addresses need to be entered. The identifiers are stored in the device master file.
The measuring system uses a different number of input and output words on the
PROFIBUS dependent on the required
nominal configuration.
Structure of the configuration byte (compact format):

Length of the I/O data:
0-15 for 1 to 16 bytes or words
Type of I/O data:
00 = empty,
01 = input,
10 = output,
11 = input/output
Format:
0 = BYTE,
1 = WORD
Consistency:
0 = Consistency about one byte or word
1 = Consistency about the complete module
