Improperly seated and/or restrained
infants and children can be killed
or seriously injured by a deploying
airbags. An infant or child who is
too small to use a seat belt should
be properly secured using a child
restraint system. Toyota recom-
mends that all infants and children
be placed in the rear seat of the
vehicle and properly restrained. The
rear seat is the safest for infants
and children.

Extreme Hazard! Do not use a rear-
ward facing child restraint on a
seat protected by an airbag in front
of it! This is because the force of
the rapid inflation of the front pas-
senger airbag can cause death or
serious injury to the child. Vehicles
with the front passenger airbag dis-
play a warning label on the passen-
ger side instrument panel as shown
above to remind you not to install
a rear − facing child restraint system
on the front passenger seat at any
time.

A forward − facing child restraint sys-
tem should be allowed to be
installed on the front passenger
seat only when it is unavoidable.
