Procedure Instructions
Measuring
Transmitting Data
(TXD+) Voltage
Using an oscilloscope or digital voltmeter, connect it to the 2100888-002 field
termination board TB1 (Figure 4–5, Item 19) green connector across the
following terminals. When communication data is being transmitted from the
µ
FLO, voltage should vary b5 Vdc and -5 Vdc.
TB1-5 (GND) and TB1-1 (TXD)
If Communication
Problems Still Exists
•
Using two (2) hand-held transceivers, check communication path between
Master and Remote sites. If available, voice activated interface can be
used.
•
Using a wattmeter, check transceiver output power. Refer to manufacturer’s
documentation for measuring instructions.
•
Verify that transceiver is on correct frequency. Refer to manufacturer’s
documentation for checking frequency instructions.
•
Verify orientation of antenna if directional.
RS-485 Communications
The following RS-485 Communications troubleshooting procedures will assist the user in what may be
the possible cause for indicated error message. Refer to Table 4–8.

•
If using manufactured cable, verify Radio cable is connected fully
•
If using Field Termination Board, verify wiring is correct.
•
If using Field Termination Board, verify jumper setting is correct.
•
Verify battery pack voltage is at least 11.9 Vdc.
•
Verify that ID number and security code are correct.
Power to transceiver can be provided from the
µ
FLO’s power supply. This allows
µ
FLO to switch external power to transceiver. Switching is accomplished using a
12VDC switch line connected to the 2100888-001 field termination board TB1-7
SWVBATT (WHT). Refer to Measuring SWVBATT Transceiver Supply Switch
Voltage. If this option is used, TB1-6 (V-BATT) is not used.
