ELECTRICAL
How It Works
When starting, it functions to ensure the park brake is
in the ON position. At the same time it allows current to
flow through the remainder of the starting safety circuit.
When the park brake is released in the (Off position) it
bypasses both neutral switches, permitting the control
levers to be used, as long as the operator is in the seat
to maintain current for the safety circuit (Fig. 393).

1. Disconnect the switch from the wiring harness.
The park brake is a double pole switch. When the
park brake is in the “On” position, a pair of closed
terminals is part of the starting safety interlock
circuit. When the brake is released after starting, the
other pair of terminals closes, bypassing the neutral
switches and applying power to the seat switch
circuit.

2. Using a multimeter, follow the procedures listed
below (Fig. 394).
Testing
Seat Switch
The switch is in the safety circuit. If the engine is running
and the operator vacates the seat with either the PTO
engaged or the parking brake disengaged, the engine
will shut down.
Note: There is a delay module in the system; there
will be a slight delay before the engine shuts
down after the operator vacates the seat.
