Belt Maintenance
Checking the Belts
Service Interval:
Every 100 hours—Check the pump
drive belt.
Every 100 hours—Check the mower
deck belt(s).
Check belts for cracks, frayed edges, burn marks, wear,
signs of overheating or any other damage.
The signs of a worn mower belt are squealing while the
belt is rotating, blades slipping while you are cutting
grass, frayed belt edges, burn marks, and cracks. Replace
the mower belt if you detect any of these signs.

Important:
The fasteners on the covers of this
machine are designed to remain on the cover after
removal. Loosen all of the fasteners on each cover a
few turns so that the cover is loose but still attached,
then go back and loosen them until the cover
comes free. This will prevent you from accidentally
stripping the bolts free of the retainers.

moving parts to stop before leaving the operating
position.
3. Loosen the bolts and remove the right belt cover
with the bolt attached to it.
4. Remove the spring from the anchor post on the idler
pulley arm (Figure 65).
5. Remove the worn mower belt (Figure 65).
