Using the Grass Deflector
At some time you may wish to operate the cutting
deck without the blower. Since a new pivot should
have already been installed on the grass deflector,
you can quickly mount the deflector to the blower
mounting brackets.
1.
Remove the bumper from the deck.
2.
Slide the slots at bottom of the deflector pivot
bracket onto the bolts at side of the deck
brackets (

Maintenance
•
Check the blower gearbox impeller for tightness
every 50 hours. Torque the impeller shaft bolt to
25 to 25.8 N
⋅
m (220 to 230 in-lb).
•
Clean grass clippings from the hood, chute,
blower, and cutting unit after each use. Wash
the underside of the cutting unit daily with hose.
An excessive buildup of clippings will impair the
collection system performance.
•
Check the belt tension and wear every 50
hours. To adjust the belt tension, loosen the idler
mounting screws, engage the idler lever, and push
the idler pulley firmly into the blower belt. Tighten
the mounting screws.
•
The blower gear box should need little
maintenance. Check for leakage every 50 hours.
If leakage should occur, replace the seals and
refill it with 2 fl oz of high quality moly disulfide
grease. Repack the bearings with this grease
before assembling.
•
Refer to Cutting Unit and Traction Unit
Operator's
Manuals
for the service requirements of each.
•
Keep the unit clean. Ensure that the engine is free
of dirt and chaff. Ensure that all fasteners are tight.
Check the deflectors, baffles, and shields for wear
and replace as needed.
