If the red LED flashes and you hear several beeps, the multidetector needs to be calibrated. Calibrate the
multidetector before scanning for objects (see "8c) Calibrating the multidetector").
The location and position of the metal object may affect the accuracy of the depth reading. For best results,
the object should be parallel to the surface. The depth reading should only be treated as an approximate
measurement.
Important information
•
This device is not suitable for locating objects in walls or ceilings that are covered with metallic fibres.
• The multidetector cannot detect plastic water pipes.
•
Wires in PVC or metal conduit are detected as metal objects.
•
The maximum detection depth depends on the material and the size of the object. Larger objects can be detected
at greater depths than smaller objects.
Detecting wooden objects
•
Switch the multidetector to wood mode (see "a) Setting the detection mode"). The green LED (5) will turn on.
•
Place the multidetector onto the surface that you want to scan for wooden objects (e.g. a wall, floor or ceiling). See
"b) Locating objects" for more information). The red and/or yellow LED (6/7) will flash when a wooden object is
detected in the vicinity of the sensor.
• The location indicator (A) will be displayed and you will hear a continuous beep when the wooden object is located
directly underneath the middle of the sensor (9).
•
If the red LED flashes and you hear several beeps, the multidetector needs to be calibrated. Calibrate the
multidetector before scanning for objects (see "8c) Calibrating the multidetector").
Important information
•
This device is not suitable for use on walls or ceilings insulated with metal fibres or thick plaster.
•
Always take several measurements to double check the location of the object.
•
It is possible that the detected object may be an electrical wire, pipe or other installation. Always exercise caution
when drilling, sawing or hammering nails to ensure that you do not touch a pipe or electrical wire. To reduce the risk
of coming into contact with wires or pipes, scan the surface in metal and AC voltage mode.
•
To prevent interference and ensure accurate results, keep your empty hand away from the multimeter during use.
Detecting objects with an AC voltage
•
Switch the multidetector to AC voltage mode (see "a) Setting the detection mode"). The green LED (5) will turn on.
•
Place the multidetector onto the surface that you want to scan for objects with an AC voltage (e.g. a wall, floor or
ceiling). See "b) Locating objects" for more information). The red LED (7) will flash when an object carrying an AC
voltage is detected in the vicinity of the sensor.
•
The AC voltage symbol (E) will be displayed and you will hear a continuous beep when the object is located directly
underneath the middle of the sensor.
•
If the red LED flashes and you hear several beeps, the multidetector needs to be calibrated. Calibrate the
multidetector before scanning for objects (see "8c) Calibrating the multidetector").
