OPERATION
To shift gears, move the control lever
to select the F (forward), N (neutral),
or R (reverse) gear.
The control lever cannot be moved
from the N (neutral) position unless
the neutral release lever is squeezed
(flush-mount/side-mount types).
Moving the control lever beyond the
gear selection range increases engine
speed.

Check whether the control lever moves smoothly.
1. Remove the cover of the control lever.
2. Loosen the nut.
3. Adjust the lever friction when increasing throttle opening and boat speed by
turning the control lever friction adjuster bolt right or left.
4. Tighten the nut to lock the lever friction.
5. Reinstall the cover of the control lever.
