the long axis of the arc aligned vertically and parallel to the plano surface of the lens, to produce a collimated output
beam.
There is a silver-coated concave mirror at the rear of the lamp housing, with its center of curvature aligned with
center of the arc lamp bulb, as shown in Figure 4. This configuration focuses the light from arc back back to the arc
position so that it can be be collimated by the front lens.
Figure 4 gives an outline of the optical configuration of the Arc lamp.
