2.4 Getting Started

Warning

A laser diode is extremely sensitive to electrostatic discharges. Take care for ESD protection
during installation of the laser. Connect the ESD protection ground of your workplace and wrist
strap to the

GND jack (8) on the rear panel

of the CLD101x . Improper ESD grounding may lead

to damage of the laser diode!

2.4.1 Installing "Butterfly" Laser Diodes to CLD1015

CLD1015 with installed BFY1 type pump laser

CLD1015 with installed BFY2 type telecomm laser

1. Verify the pinout of the laser diode to be installed. CLD1015 supports the two standard pin

styles of 14 pin butterfly laser diodes (see

Standard BFY Pinouts

). The actual pinout of the

laser can be found in it's data sheet.
