42–15 Brake Inspection
IMPORTANT: This procedure should be per-
formed prior to lubrication of the brake compo-
nents.
Vehicles Equipped with
Intellipark
™
IMPORTANT: If the vehicle is equipped with the
Intellipark electronic park brake system, perform
the steps below to place the vehicle in mainte-
nance mode in order to perform maintenance on
the park brake.
While in maintenance mode, the Intellipark func-
tionality is limited as follows.
•
Pushing or pulling the park brake button has no
effect on the park brake.
•
Roll-away mitigation is not active (no automatic
setting of the park brake).
1.
With the vehicle on a level surface, release the
park brake.
2.
With your foot off of the brake pedal, verify that
the vehicle is stationary, the ignition key is in the
ON position, and the dash electronic control unit
(DECU) switches are in the neutral position.
NOTE: The next four steps should be performed
within 10 seconds.
3.
Press the foot brake pedal.
4.
Release the foot brake pedal.
5.
Push the yellow park brake button and hold it in
the pushed-in state continuously, until the end of
step 15.
6.
Press the foot brake pedal and keep it pressed,
until the end of step 15.
NOTE: The next nine steps should be per-
formed within 40 seconds. Be aware that where
you stop cycling the ignition on one step is the
beginning of the next step. For example, at the
end of step 7 the ignition is OFF, and after wait-
ing for two seconds (step 8), the ignition is al-
ready in the OFF position to begin step 9.
