WARNING
Due to the high spring tension of the return
spring, disassembly of the air cylinder should
only be done by qualified personnel. It is recom-
mended that the air cylinder be sent to the chain
manufacturer for any repair work. Failure to do so
could result in serious personal injury, death, or
property damage.
31–03 Off-Season Chain Wheel
Removal
1.
Remove the chain wheels during the spring and
summer months to prolong the life of the arm
bearings and components. When the chain
wheels are removed, mark how the spacers are
placed between the arm and the wheel. When
the chain wheels are once again installed for the
winter months, put the spacers back between the
arm and the wheel as they were before.
2.
Although not required, the chain units may also
be removed. If this is done, put the vehicle unit
number on the chain wheels and chain units.
Leave the mounting brackets in place and plug
the air lines.
3.
Disconnect the dashboard switch or remove the
fuse. This will keep the system from being un-
knowingly activated during the off season.
4.
Inspect the chain wheels, arm bearings, and
angle joints for wear to ensure the system is
ready for the next season.
