Using a Barcode Reader

It is possible to connect a Barcode Reader to the computer running LabWriter Application via an external
connection port (eg. USB or Serial Port).

Thermo Fisher Scientific strongly recommends the Symbol® Barcode Reader, which can be purchased as an
accessory (see Appendix A).

Note

Other Barcode Readers can be used in conjunction with PrintMate, but Thermo Fisher Scientific can make no
guarantee that they will work correctly with the LabWriter Application.

Note

The following sections assume that a Symbol® Barcode Reader is being used.

If an alternative model is being used, please refer to the manufacturer’s instructions.
