After Operation
After the experiments are finished, the following routing procedures are
recommended:
•
Flushing the system
•
Releasing the peristaltic pump tubings
•
Emptying the waste container
Run the System with Blanks
After operation it is recommended to flush the iCAP Q mass
spectrometer with appropriate blanks to such as diluted nitric acid or
ultrapure water. This ensures that neither high amounts of analytes nor
matrix stay inside the sample introduction system over a longer period
of time.
❖
To flush the iCAP Q mass spectrometer
1. Move the probe to a vial containing an appropriate blank solution.
2. Let the system flush with the blank solution for about 5 to
10 minutes.
Release Peristaltic Pump Tubing
To maintain their flexibility, it is also important to release the tubings
from the peristaltic pump.
❖
To release the tubing
1. Open the brackets at the peristaltic pump.
2. Remove the collar from the tube.
3. Take out the tube from the sample solution.
Emptying the Waste Container
The liquid level of the waste container needs to be checked before,
during, and after operation of the system to prevent an emission of
hazardous chemicals.
❖
To empty the waste container
1. Check the solvent level in the solvent waste container.
2. Empty the solvent waste container if necessary. Dispose of the
solvent waste in accordance with national and local regulations.
