Turning the System Off

To turn the RES-32XEL power off, hold down the system power on/off
switch (see
) for at least four (4) seconds. This will shut down the
system and turn off the
POWER
LED.
As an alternative, a modern operating system (Windows 9x or newer and
Linux, for example) can turn off the system after a graceful OS software
shutdown.

Getting Started
2.3.3.1 Configuration
1.
Make sure all SCSI drives are installed (see “SCSI Hard-Disk Drive” on
page 2-6). The upper drive will be automatically configured as
SCSI
ID0
,
the bottom drive will be configured as
SCSI
ID1
.
2.
Make sure there is a graphics card in the AGP slot (see “AGP Graphics Card”
on page 2-7).
3.
Connect a multiscan monitor to the SVGA connector of the AGP graphics
card.
2.3.3.2 Linux Installation
Carry out the following steps to install the Linux operating system onto the RES-
32XEL:
1.
Turn power to the system on (see previous section).
2.
Go to
Advanced
Settings
and disable the following features:
Caution:
Before turning your system off, make sure to save all open files, properly
close applications, and broadcast a warning to all users on any active networks.
Note:
To switch from SCSI drive 0 to SCSI drive 1, type
CTRL-A
to enter the
SCSI Configuration/Chooser menu when the system boots up. Enter the disk-
chooser and boot-disk options by changing the selection from
0
to
1
or vice versa.
