Installation and Operation
Installation Procedures

Themis Computer
4.
Carefully pull the latch handle (see
C
) until the drive has cleared the chassis.
The drive will automatically disconnect from its backplane connector when
pulled forward.
2.1.3.2 Installation
5.
Make sure the latch handle of the drive to be installed is in the open position.
6.
Properly orient the new drive and insert it into the vacant drive slot. If the
drive cannot be inserted into the slot, rotate it 180 degrees (it is impossible to
install the drive incorrectly into its slot).
7.
Push the drive toward the rear (DO NOT CLOSE the latch handle while push-
ing) until the drive is flush with the front of the chassis. The handle will swing
closed when it comes into contact with the RES-32XEL chassis.
8.
When the drive is fully inserted in its slot, push the latch handle closed until
the latch lock has snapped into the locked position.
2.1.4
AGP Graphics Card
The 1.5V AGP Pro graphics slot (see
A
on page 2-8) is compatible with
AGP Pro and AGP 4x/8x (which has fewer pins than the AGP Pro) graphics cards.
The RES-32XEL AGP Pro slot will support NVidia GeForce3, NVidia GeForce4,
and other industry-standard graphics cards.
When installing an AGP Pro card, remove the orange sticker (see
B
,
)
covering the outside end of the slot. With other cards, leave the sticker in place so
that you cannot plug into the pin section it covers. As a general rule, make sure that
the card being installed fills the pins nearest the center of the motherboard first. The
card is installed properly if its I/O faceplate is flush with the rear I/O panel of the
RES-32XEL.
Caution:
When in the closed position, the latch handle secures the drive to the
chassis. If the handle is closed before the drive is fully inserted, the latch mechanism
may not fully engage to secure the drive.
Caution:
Because of the discrepancy in pin count between card types,
uses extreme caution when installing a graphics card in the AGP Pro slot.
