44 NOVA OPERATION
REMOTE SHOW PLAYBACK
You can operate a Show by stepping it through the cues from a remote location. Control is provided for Forward Cue, Reverse,
and Home—reset to Cue 1. The Forward, Reverse and Home commands require a simple three wire connection to two low
current make-to-earth contacts, which can be a pair of manual push buttons or other source such as a musician's foot-switch, or
electronic control from a daylight sensor, Audio Visual decoder box, SMPTE time decoder, Midi decoder, computers, or a tone
decoder from a taped sound-track. The technical specifications are listed below.
In the following example, assume the remote lines are connected to two push buttons marked Forward and Reverse.
REMOTE SHOW SET-UP
Only one Show should be operated remotely at one time, and all cues will fade at the rate selected on the Fade Master. You can
record other Remote Shows on the other Scenemasters if needed, but the masters and Page must be manually changed. Once
the Show is recorded, proceed as follows:
1
Plug the stereo phone jack connected to the remote pushbuttons (or controller) into the Remote Control socket
on the back panel of the Scenemaster.
2
Set the Fade Master to the common fade time.
3
Set the Show Scenemaster to Full. This sets Cue 1 live on stage.
The first cue state in this mode is more than likely to be a blackout or a reset state which may include public area lighting such as
Houselights. The second cue state would then be the start of the performance. The Show can be controlled from the remote
contacts, and from the Nova Cue Go key.
REMOTE CUE FORWARD
If you press the Forward push-button briefly (10 milliseconds to 1 second), the Show will step forward one cue. Repeating
pressing of the Forward button gives a series of cross-fade between cues, at the time set on the Fade Master. Cue stepping
works on a latest takes precedence basis, that is all cue levels fade to the latest cue state at the latest cue fade time. Pressing
Forward when the Show is on the last cue fades to the FIRST cue.
REMOTE CUE REVERSE
If you press the Reverse push-button briefly (10 milliseconds to 1 second), the Show will step backwards one cue, at the time set
on the Fade Master. Pressing Reverse when the Show is on the first cue fades to the LAST cue.
