EN 361:
These harnesses are mainly used for fall
arrest purposes, i.e., they support the
entire body of the wearer and, in the
event of a fall and after arresting a fall,
hold him/her in an upright position.
CAUTION! Use is permitted only in com-
ination with waist belt & shoulder straps.
EN 358:
This harness belays its wearer at the work
site (work positioning) or prevents the
wearer from reaching a location from
where he/she can fall down (restraint
function).
A work positioning harness to EN 358
by itself is not suitable for fall arrest
purposes!
In order to provide protection against falls
from a height, it may be necessary to use
configurations including collective
equipment (e.g., safety nets) or personal
protective equipment (e.g., fall protection
systems to EN 363)!
EN 813:
This harness holds the body of the user,
who must be conscious, in a sitting posi-
tion.
A sit harness to EN 813 alone is not
suitable for fall protection purposes!
Rather, for protection against falls from a
height, it may also be necessary to use
configurations including collective equip-
ment such as safety nets, or personal
protective equipment such as fall protec-
tion systems to EN 363!
Prior to first use, users should perform a
hanging test in a safe location to verify
that the sit harness has the right size and
offers sufficient adjustment options and a
reasonable level of comfort for the
intended use
Harnesses to EN 12277 are used to support the
wearer’s body in a suspended position when clim-
bing. Users must be familiar with the use of sup-
plementary and backup systems (e.g., for belaying,
rescues, rappelling, ascents) as well as with other
suitable components of the system and with safe,
effective rescue procedures.
The Ultra Duo harness (waist belt with leg loops) can
also be used without shoulder straps (Ultra Duo-Top) as
a work positioning belt in a system to EN 358, as a sit
harness to EN 813, or as a type C harness to EN 12277.
CAUTION!
If there exists the risk of falls from a
height, the waist belt (Ultra Duo) may only be used in
combination with the shoulder straps (Ultra Duo-Top).
1. Selecting the right harness size:
Harness size:
Ultra Duo, size 1: leg circumference 50-70 cm /
waist circumference 80-110 cm
Ultra Duo, size 2: leg circumference 50-85 cm /
