USB and relative functions
The USB ports, located on the front and rear panels of the device, are dedicated to the connection of an external mass
storage device with a USB interface in order to play home multimedia content and to record TV programs.
6.1
Use and warnings
Before proceeding with the use of a type of USB mass storage such as a disk-drive (Hard Disk Driver - HDD) or a flash
memory / flash drive, follow the relevant rules and the following notices.
6.1.1
Disc connection
WARNINGS
The sole USB port may not provide a constant and proper supply, there is the risk of disk and/or receiver corruption!
In some cases, it is therefore recommended to use hard drives with external power supply.
Compatible with USB storage devices formatted with FAT32 and NTFS file systems.
We do not guarantee the compatibility with all USB storage devices on the market.
A few seconds after the connection of the USB memory, if the receiver detects it correctly, a notification of the
External
Connected Unit
will appear on-screen.
At the first connection of a USB memory device or after any formatting of the same, the receiver will create a folder,
which will be used as an archive for recordings with the following structure:
RecordedFiles: Main folder that coitnains the sub-folders listed below
--
Free: reserved for the recordings of Free-To-Air programs
--
Scrambled: reserved for the recordings of scrambled programs
WARNING
Recordings of scrambled programs can be played back only from the specific receiver that has recorded the content.
6.1.2
Disc removal
For the safe removal of the memory and to avoid damage to the devices or to its files, always remove the USB device

WARNING
The removal of memory while writing or reading data can damage the content and the devices involved; always use the
remove feature.

USB disc test
The receiver is able to evaluate the read-write performances thanks to the
Device Test

menu Multimedia > Storage Device Setup. Possible results are:
1.
Unstable (Not suggested): read-write speed lower than 3MB/s.
2.
Normal (Possible instability)
: read-write speed between 3MB/s and 9MB/s.
3.
Stable (Suggested)
: read-write speed over 9MB/s.
NOTE
Test result is strictly related to hardware plaftfrom of the receiver, and to to the USB port type in use (2.0 of front panel
or 3.0 of rear panel). Other devices (e.g. a computer) may give differ results.
6.1.4
USB disc format
Utility to format the USB memory to a basic NTFS format is offered in the menu Multimedia > Storage Device Setup,
