Proceed to step 13 if a c o a x ia l m ixer is not being
used.
f. Set the Time-Mark Generator so that 2 ns sinewaves are
applied through the 20 dB attenuator pad, 50 f i termination
and proper adapter to the RF INPUT connector.
g. Change the DISPERSION to 200 kHz/cm. Shift the IF
feedthrough signal by tuning the IF CENTER FREQ controls.
Adjust the RF CENTER FREQ control to center a converted
or tunable signal display on the graticule. Adjust the MIXER
PEAKING for maximum signal amplitude.
h. Push the LOCK CHECK button and adjust the FINE RF
CENTER FREQ control to phase lock the local oscillator. Re
lease the LOCK CHECK button and adjust the G A IN control
for a full 6 cm signal amplitude.
i. Decrease the DISPERSION to 1 kHz/cm, keeping the
phase-locked signal within the graticule with the IF CENTER
FREQ control.
j. CHECK— The amount of frequency modulation in the
Fig. 5 -2 1 . Typical d isp la y showing identical frequency m odulation.
Measure the ho rizonta l displacement of the signal a t the most vertical
slope o f the signal.
