3.1
Current and Power Requirements
Table 3-1 on page 3-2
lists the current and power requirements for both versions of
the tape system (internal and tabletop). The tabletop version requires AC power.
The highest current (and power) is drawn during the native write modes and
backward-read compatibility (BRC) read modes, so they are outlined in
Table 3-1
.
Standby is measured with the tape loaded and tensioned or untensioned, and Idle is
measured with power on with no tape loaded. (The power drawn in these two
modes is similar enough that they are listed together.) Power-up current surges are
less than those encountered during motor accelerations, and so are not listed
separately.

relevant to the tabletop drive.
