Communication between the MINIMECH
TM
and the external host is performed
through a standard V.24 port.
As we already have stated, the dialogue procedure is always performed in the
same simple way: pairs of COMMAND-REPLY messages. Optionally using
the standard V.24 timing signals. Detailed information about ASCII character
set and signal timing see section 6.

All commands (from the host) and all responses (from the MINIMECH
TM
) are
on a one-to-one basis. That is, the MINIMECH
TM
must reply to a message
before another command will be accepted, and the MINIMECH
TM
cannot send
an unsolicited response.
Messages are accepted by the transmission of ACK (ACKnowledged) or
rejected by the transmission of a NAK (Not AcKnowledged) character. A NAK
is a request for the message to be repeated.
The general message transfer procedure is as follows:
HOST Transmit

MINIMECH
TM
Accept command by sending ACK (ASCII 06 hex)
MINIMECH

MINIMECH
