Testing the Sample
1
Turn the instrument on by pressing the main power switch on the rear panel. Check that coolant is flowing
through the heat sink.
2
Set the
HEATER POWER
switch to
ON
.
3
Raise the heater assembly with the
UP/DOWN
switch. The
MOVE/FREE
switch must be in the
MOVE
position.
4
Accurately measure the sample thickness and, if appropriate, apply a thin layer of sink compound
(supplied with the instrument) to
both
sides of the sample.
NOTE
: Contact TA Instruments if you would like to obtain calibration samples.
5
Place the sample on the lower surface plate of the test column and align the sample.
6
Lower the heater assembly with the
UP/DOWN
switch. (When a dead weight mechanism is provided
instead of the pneumatic system, unlock the shaft and gently lower the heater assembly until it rests on
the sample. Then place a weight on the support tray to obtain the desired compression of the sample).
7
Release the spring-loaded locking pin and lower the guard furnace. Lock the furnace in the lowest position.
8
Close the front door and secure the latches.
9
Input the testing information and follow the on-screen programming.
