Spectrum24 Network Configuration
Introduction
Wireless LANs allow PDT 8000 terminals to communicate wirelessly, and to send captured
data “real time” to a host device. Before a terminal can be used on a Spectrum24 LAN the
facility must be set up with the equipment required to run the wireless LAN and the terminal
must be properly configured. Refer to the Access Points (APs) documentation for
instructions on setting up the required hardware.
The terminal Network Adapter settings and Spectrum24 settings configure and monitor the
wireless connection. The Mobile Companion icon appears in the task tray, and indicates
terminal signal strength as follows:
Mobile Companion
The Mobile Companion utility is used to configure the terminal’s wireless network settings.
The Mobile Companion utility starts automatically and appears as an icon on the task tray.
The status icon changes in real-time to reflect the signal strength and availability of the

Good signal strength
Fair signal strength
Poor signal strength
Out-of-network range (not associated)
