Sylantro 4-Port Adapter Installation Guide 3-11
Installing the 4-port Adapter
3
Table 3-3 shows the signals for the Ethernet port connector on the adapter.
Completing the Installation
Plug the adapter back into the power source. After all of the configuration numbers
are entered, the network connection is made, and the adapter is powered on, the
adapter connects to the Control Server and obtains its configuration information.
You can monitor the status LEDs on the front of the chassis to determine if a
connection is made, see Table 1-2 on page 1-7. If the LEDs do not indicate that a
connection is established with the Control Server, see the troubleshooting
information in Chapter 4, “Verifying and Troubleshooting the 4-port Adapter
Installation.”
Another way to confirm that the adapter is properly configured is to go off hook on
the phone connected to port 1 and listen to the dial tone. If the addresses are
accepted, you hear normal dial tone. If they are not accepted, you hear a fast busy
tone. If you hear a fast busy tone, verify the numbers given to you by the service
provider and repeat “Using a Telephone to Configure an Adapter” on page 3-5.
Assigning Extensions to the Phones
After you have installed and configured the 4-port adapter and connected the
phones, the last step is to assign an extension number to each port on the adapter.
Usually, the office administrator at the customer site is responsible for doing this
task.
