Binning

Binning provides a way to enhance dynamic range, but at the cost of
lower resolution. Instead of reading out each individual pixel, binning

combines charge from neighboring pixels directly on the chip, before
readout.

Binning is only used with monochrome CCD Sensors. For reducing
resolution on color sensors refer to

decimation

Vertical Binning

Accumulates vertical pixels.
