7. Before replacing the oil filter cover, be
sure to check that the filter spring

and
the “O” ring
C
are installed correctly.
NOTE: Insert a new “O” ring each time the
filter element is replaced.
8. Replace the oil filter cover and tighten
the bolts securely but do not overtighten
them.
NOTICE
Failure to use an oil filter with the correct
design can damage your motorcycle’s
engine.
Be sure to use a genuine SUZUKI oil fil-
ter or an equivalent one designed for
your motorcycle.
NOTICE
Failure to insert the new element cor-
rectly can damage the engine. No oil
flow will result if the element is inserted
backwards.
Insert the open end of the new oil filter
element into the engine.
