If you find any of these problems with
your sprocket, consult your Suzuki
dealer.
NOTE: The two sprockets should be
inspected for wear when a new chain
is installed and replace them if neces-
sary.
DRIVE CHAIN CLEANING AND
OILING
At intervals, clean and oil the chain as
follows:
1. Clean the chain with kerosene. If
the chain tends to rust, the interval
must be shortened. Kerosene is a
petroleum product and will provide
some lubrication as well as clean-
ing action.
2. After thoroughly washing the
chain and allowing it to dry, oil the
links with Suzuki chain lube or an
equivalent chain lubricant.
WARNING
Kerosene can be hazardous.
Kerosene is flammable. Children
or pets may be harmed from con-
tact with kerosene.
Keep flames and smoking materi-
als away from kerosene. Keep
children and pets away from kero-
sene. If swallowed, do not induce
vomiting. Call a physician immedi-
ately. Dispose of used kerosene
properly.

CAUTION
Cleaning the chain with gasoline
or commercial cleaning solvents
can damage O-rings and ruin the
chain.
These fluids can damage the O-
rings and ruin the chain.
Clean the drive chain with kero-
sene only.
CAUTION
Some drive chain lubricants con-
tain solvents and additives which
could damage the O-rings in your
chain.
Your vehicle’s chain contains O-
rings which can be damaged by
the solvents and additives in
some types of drive chain lubri-
cant.
Use Suzuki chain lube or an equiv-
alent chain lubricant that is specif-
ically intended for use with O-ring
chains.
