6. Remove the three bolts holding
the filter cover

in place.
7. Remove the filter cover, pull out
the oil filter element

and
replace with a new one.
8. Before replacing the oil filter cover,
be sure to check that the filter
spring
5
and the “O” ring
6
are
installed correctly.
NOTE: Insert a new “O” ring each
time the filter element is replaced.
9. Reinstall the oil filter cover and
tighten the bolts securely, but do
not overtighten them.
10. Reinstall the drain plugs and
tighten them securely. Pour fresh
oil through the filler hole. Approxi-
mately 2100 ml (2.2/1.8 US/Imp.
qt) of oil will be required.
NOTE: Approximately 2000 ml (2.1/
1.8 US/Imp. qt) of oil will be required
when changing oil only without
replacing the oil filter.
CAUTION
Failure to use the correct oil filter
can damage your ATV.
Engine damage may occur if you
use oil filter with the wrong design
or thread specifications.
Be sure to use a genuine SUZUKI
oil filter or an equivalent filter
designed for your ATV.
CAUTION
Failure to insert the new oil filter
element correctly can damage the
engine.
No oil flow will result if the ele-
ment is inserted backwards.
Insert the open end of the new oil
filter element into the engine.
